  • Full Yogic Breathing Exercise - Pranayama for Meditation | MermaidAnnika

The Sanskrit word prāṇāyāma can be translated as "extending the breath". The origin of this yogic discipline lies in ancient Bharat (India) and what is known as present day Hinduism. Anapanasati means to feel the sensations caused by the movements of the breath in the body, as is practiced in the context of mindfulness. Several researchers have reported that pranayama techniques are beneficial in treating a range of stress-related disorders. The practice of focusing one's attention changes the brain in ways to improve that ability over time; the brain grows in response to meditation. It has been scientifically demonstrated that long-term meditation practice slows down the natural aging process of the brain.
